Sorry about the frustration. We’ve resolved the Application Not Responding issue. My team is monitoring the labs environment. Please try again.

    Thanks,

  2. Jupyter Lab: "Application not responding. Please try again in a few moments."

It says this more often than not. I've only been able to access JupyterLab from edX twice in the last 24 hours :(

  7. Describe the differences between Data Scientist Workbench and Knowledge Anyhow Workbench

IBM seems to be providing two very similar but separate environments. It would be helpful to understand why there are two separate workbenches and what the differences are between the Data Scientist Workbench and the Knowledge Anyhow Workbench

  8. dedicated offering

    This is all great...
... for learning and testing. But as long as there is no dedicated offering, who will want to use it productively?
Is a dedicated offering to be expected and if so, when?

Have you looked at the IBM Data Science Experience? http://datascience.ibm.com/

DSX is a great dedicated offering with a similar or broader feature set to what we use to deliver BDU Labs.

  12. Replace the blue question mark with "Technical Support" or "SUPPORT"

The blue question mark does not imply Technical Support for many users. It would be better to change it to something more visible

The floating “Support” button on the middle right has been available for several weeks now. It can be used for both – opening tickets to get technical assistance, as well as there is an option to provide feedback or suggest an idea.

  14. Make builting workbench faster and more predictable

I have been trying to built the work bench for the past hour. The page will just log me out and then ask me to login again. When i do, it just starts building workbench again in a seemingly endless cycle.

  15. add support for RShiny. I would like to create an RShiny app using RStudio.

First, I can't seem to be able to install shiny in RStudio:
    install.packages("shiny")
    library(shiny)

It would be nice if I could create an app in DSWB, and have a link to the resulting app that I can share publicly.

  17. Preinstall NLTK for Python

NLTK is the most popular platform for Python to work with human languages. Many researches require it, so it make sense to preinstall it.

Currently only Python 2.7 can be used in notebooks. I'd like to be able to choose Python version when creating a notebook

  19. What should be the menu title for Notebooks and RStudio?

We just added RStudio to the Data Scientist Workbench. Rstudio complements R Notebooks for building analytics in R. You can launch RStudio from the "Analyze Data" menu. The same place you will find "My Notebooks" menu item.
We are not quite sure if these are the right menu labels. Both Notebooks and IDEs like RStudio are really used to "build" analytics. Should we change the menu heading to "Build Analitycs"?
